Why I built this

A while back, I made a trade I was really excited about. The other person told me the card they were giving me was worth way more than it actually was — and I believed them. I didn’t find out the truth until later, standing there with a card worth a fraction of what I’d handed over. It wasn’t just the money that stung. It was realizing that a hobby built on trust could be used against me by someone who knew exactly what they were doing.

I never wanted anyone else to feel that pit in their stomach. So I built TradeRoom: a simple way for two people to lay their cards on the table — literally — with real market prices in plain view, so both sides can look each other in the eye and know the trade is fair. Not to take the fun out of trading, but to protect the trust that makes trading fun in the first place.

Every card in the app, every price, every trade log exists because of one bad trade that I decided to turn into something good.

Where your support goes

I’ll be honest with you: it’s a hard season to be a software engineer. The job market is rough, and I’m building and maintaining this app on my own time while trying to keep myself afloat. Servers, price data, and late nights are all paid for out of my own pocket.

TradeRoom is free, and I want to keep it that way — nobody should have to pay to be treated fairly. If the app has saved you from a bad trade, or just made a good one feel easier, a small donation genuinely helps me keep the lights on and keep improving it. Even the price of a coffee means someone out there thinks this is worth keeping alive. That means more to me than I can put into words.
